The records include letters received and copies of letters sent; annual reports; circulars; newspapers; architectural drawings and other building plans; lists of materials; advertisements and product catalogs; bid proposals; bills of lading; invoices; lists of checks issued to Indians; official receipts; commencement programs; school attendance reports; school enrollment applications; monthly and quarterly school reports from Leech Lake Reservation boarding and day schools; student report cards; tuition vouchers; allotment certificates; timber contracts; and a tract-by-tract list of Chippewa Indian reservation lands affected by reservoirs. Correspondents include the Commissioner of Indian Affairs and other officials from the Office of Indian Affairs; Nett Lake Agency; Red Lake Agency; Sac and Fox Sanatorium; Tomah Indian School; Vermillion Lake Indian School; Wahpeton Indian School; and White Earth Agency. Other correspondents include local banks; vendors; and private individuals. The records provide information on the administration and operation of Leech Lake Agency. Subjects include agency buildings and property; bridge and road improvements; employees and employment; bonding of employees; civil service examinations; creation of the Consolidated Chippewa Agency; equipment and supplies; horses; motor vehicles; and purchases. Tomah Indian Industrial School (Tomah, Wis.)

The Tomah Indian School was authorized as a nonreservation boarding school in 1891 and opened in 1893. The Tomah Indian School was given agency duties in 1911 for the Hocak (Winnebago) Indians of Wisconsin. Agency duties were transferred to the Grand Rapids Agency in 1916, but in 1927 that agency-level jurisdiction was consolidated with the Tomah School, which regained its agency status. Between 1932 and 1935, the Tomah School took over responsiblity for the Oneida, Stockbridge, and Munsee India...
